Fashion is about dressing according to what’s fashionable. Style is more about being yourself.
Oscar de la Renta
I usually start every entry with a quote that I think ties the post together. It’s like putting a bow on a nicely wrapped gift. Today I felt compelled to post a quote in honor of Oscar De La Renta, a fashion legend. Although a bit modest, he was right to suggest that fashion is about dressing according to what’s deemed fashionable. That’s the immediate understanding of the term. For those who worship fashion, when a legend who has impacted the fashion industry suddenly dies the concept(of fashion) becomes more authentic. If it wasn’t for the creative visionaries, your Oscar de la Renta, Coco Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Diane Von Fustenberg (I could go on and on, but I think you get my point) fashion would cease to exist. No Couture, No fast fashion ( your Zara’s, and H&M’s), no Met Gala, No street style, and just forget about Anna Wintour. These creative geniuses, give us heritage. They dictate what fashion is, and inspire us everyday to get dressed. Without them we would all be basic bitches with a pair of light wash denim.
